It is an extraordinarily complex skin disease which cannot be cured – it is a lifelong skin condition but can be controlled, if you understand the causes and triggers and maintain results to prevent the disease from reoccurring.

When Rosacea is left untreated, the condition will worsen over time and can be present permanently or come and go as flare ups. As a rule, it effects more women than men and more common in Fitzpatrick I-II fair skins. It tends to affect the face and neck but can spread to other areas such as the chest.
Rosacea or redness is primarily a disease of the oil gland. Symptoms associated with Rosacea are Telangiectasia (spider veins) due to a breakdown in cellular communication, inflammation and a flushing of the skin caused by excess sebum and the Demodex Mite.

Dry, rough skin texture, enlarged pores and itchy eyes are also symptoms with the condition leading into the onset of premature ageing. The redness may develop into, or be accompanied by, red bumps or pustules that is like acne, known as Acne Rosacea.

Triggers which can exacerbate the flushing may include, hot or spicy food, alcohol, caffeine, sugar, dairy, extreme temperature changes, exposure to UV and IRA rays, stress, heat treatments such as steam rooms and saunas.

To control and maintain your Rosacea I will firstly place you on a medical grade prescriptive skincare program targeting the root cause of each symptom. I then treat Rosacea in studio using the following procedures: micro-needling, LED light therapy and custom AHA peels to target the specific symptoms of Rosacea.
