Regardless of gender, age, and skin type anyone can suffer from pore issues.

However, those who suffer from an oily and combination skin type are more susceptible. The sebaceous gland when it produces too much sebum fills the pore, becomes trapped, stretches and widens the pore resulting in them becoming visibly larger. When sebum is trapped in the pores it can oxidise and change colour forming blackheads.

The condition can be triggered by a genetic disposition, hormonal changes, and poor skincare. Age also plays a large role and has a detrimental effect on the pores. This is due to our sebaceous gland becoming more active as we age, cell renewal slows and the skin loses its collagen and elastin that provides the natural supporting structure around the follicles.

UV and IRA exposure also exacerbate the condition as the heat stimulates excess oil and destroys collagen.

You cannot completely close pores, but you can improve the appearance, by regulating and controlling the sebaceous gland, stimulating fibroblast activity to produce collagen and elastin and resurfacing the skin.

To start I will tailor a medical grade, prescriptive skincare protocol to you before carrying out any of the following procedures: AHA peels customised to control sebum and retexture the skin and then microneedling to reduce and improve the appearance of the pores by stimulating collagen production.
