The bacteria and dead skin cells cause your pores to become inflamed and eventually break. This results in a divert or indentation where the collagen is then missing. When wounded, your skin will be triggered to repair itself through the wound healing response and collagen production is initiated to restore the damaged cells, however severe cases of acne often require additional repair to help the skin return to its original healthy condition.

To treat acne scaring I firstly place my patients on a medical grade, prescriptive skincare program containing retinoids to ensure optimal skin health for repair. Once the skin has been properly prepped and collagen stimulation has begun, I then use my custom micro-needling procedures and medical peels to home in and repair the deeper cellular damage.

Results of Acne Scaring take time to treat as generally treatments are spaced every 6-8 weeks to allow the new collagen to mature before we can re treat.

I maximise results by prescribing a high dose retinoid to repair damaged tissue and stimulate new collagen production. When treating acne scaring it is imperative, we first treat the skin to prevent future acne flare ups – home care always comes first before professional treatment.
