How to Use Retinoids the Skinboss Way?

You will often read to start with a low strength product, and apply 2–3 times a week, increasing slowly up to daily use. You can then progress onto higher strength products. This will keep reactions to a low comfortable level. And whilst yes, I advise that this is correct as a general rule for anyone undertaking the use of retinoid products without supervision of a professional. This isn’t the best way to achieve optimal results and in fact can draw out the process making it more frustrating and unpleasant.

@SKINBOSS we know that the golden rule of NO reaction = NO result. If you lower the reaction, you will lower the results. By implementing more aggressive acute applications in a quicker time frame will create stronger reactions which creates greater repair, and quicker more advanced results. However, due to the strength of reactions it must be supervised and the skin must be properly conditioned prior to taking on this level of program. Always seek advice and support from a professional. They will be able to correctly prepare you and guide you through the process. And this is what we call SKINBOSS Bootcamp. These short but aggressive attack phases should be carried out at least once a year to continually improve the skin year after year, maintain your results, slow the ageing process and prevent the reformation of active skin disease such as acne.

Retinoid Bootcamps can be implemented by carrying out 3-5 months of aggressive Retinoid attack pulse cycles and Retinoid 5-day home peels. After these acute attack cycles, you can then use lower concentrations/dosages of retinol.

If you cannot tolerate retinol, or it’s not the right time but you want to advance your skin results without reactions, don’t worry. It’s not the only solution. You can add into your protocol supplementary resurfacers such as additional hydroxy acids and use the same approach of using higher dosages to increase the skins cellular turnover.

YOU MUST REMEMBER THIS!

Retinoids and hydroxy acids deactivate with light exposure stopping them from working. When exposed the deactivation of these key ingredients in your skin will cause unwanted irritation and sensitivity. It’s essential to use a high-full spectrum medical sunscreen every day and reapply throughout the day. The reapplication is key, once a day won’t cut it and you are only cheating yourself out of your goals. Sunscreen application applies to all seasons whether it’s winter or summer. The rule is, if it’s day light, you are exposed to these damaging rays. So, protect your skin! Don’t forget about your electrical devices such as phones, the HEV light emitted causes untold damage within our skin and primarily an uneven skin tone.
